TDP MLA from Gudivada, Kodali Venkateswara Rao (Nani) on Monday met YSRC president YS Jaganmohan Reddy at Chanchalguda jail.
He was accompanied by Vangaveeti Radhakrishna and MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy. Earlier in the day Nani met YSRC party honorary president YS Vijayamma at her Lotus Pond residence in Banjara Hills.
Rumours have been doing the rounds for quite some time that Nani has been dissatisfied in the TDP and that he is mulling over leaving it for YSR Congress.
Nani has neither denied nor confirmed the rumours. Nani is a prominent TDP leader in Krishna district and is close to Junior NTR. His exit will deal a serious blow to the party in the district, feel observers.
When it suddenly became known that Nani would be leaving the party soon, a senior TDP leader and MLC Rajendra Prasad prevailed upon him and took him to the party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu.
The latter asked Nani to scotch the rumours of his joining YSRCP, but he did not obey his diktat, sources said.
He reportedly expressed his desire to YSRCP leaders of continuing as an associate MLA, but was advised to quite both the party and the legislature and seek fresh mandate as the YSRCP leader, the sources added.
